The Basset Hound is a distinctive dog breed, a hound with folds of loose fitting skin and short hair with white and sand coloured patterns. Basset hounds are very gentle and friendly dogs, they are good natured and calm, avoiding trouble where they can. They are excellent dogs for families with children, although stubborn they are very friendly and rarely become agressive. A basset hound can be excellent for confined spaces as they do not run around too much indoors, reserving their energy for walks and open spaces.
