The beagle is known as a wonderful dog for a family, friendly and gentle with people and children, although other small animals may not be safe around new beagle family members. They have a distinctive bark or howl, and as they often dont like being left alone they may not be the perfect dogs for leaving home alone as they will likely annoy your neighbours!
